As part of the cooperation between the Georgian Bar Association and the Law Society of England and Wales, the Georgian Bar Association hosted the English Law Forum.

The Forum brought together representatives of the legal professions from Georgia, the United Kingdom and Spain, as well as representatives of the executive and legislative branches and the diplomatic corps.

The participants were welcomed by Irakli Kandashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association; William Massolin, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia; Charmian Leaver, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Tbilisi; Xavier Bellmont Roldán, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Spain in Georgia; Beka Dzamashvili, First Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia; Irakli Shatakishvili, First Deputy Chair of the Parliament of Georgia’s Legal Affairs Committee; Otar Chakhunashvili, Director of the Legal Aid Service of Georgia; and Ruslan Ughrelidze, Managing Partner and Solicitor-Advocate at LAWLEX SOLICITORS.

During the Forum, participants discussed current issues related to international law. The discussions covered topics including business law, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and the rule of law.

“The English Law Forum is another important testament to the strong support for the Georgian legal profession and to international professional cooperation. It is particularly important that representatives of leading British law firms come to Georgia and share their knowledge and experience with Georgian lawyers. It is also noteworthy that the Georgian Bar Association is recognized as a trusted and reliable partner at the international level. I believe that this cooperation between the legal professions of the two countries further strengthens professional ties and creates new opportunities for Georgian lawyers,” said Irakli Kandashvili.

The English Law Forum is being held in Georgia for the third time and brings together representatives of the legal professions from the United Kingdom and Georgia. The Forum serves as an important platform for sharing professional experience and discussing legal issues, while also contributing to the further strengthening of cooperation between Georgia and the United Kingdom in the legal field.
