Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association Meets with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia

Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association Irakli Kandashvili met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili. The introductory meeting was held at the Parliament of Georgia.

During the meeting, Shalva Papuashvili congratulated Irakli Kandashvili on his election as Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association and wished him success in his future activities.

Irakli Kandashvili briefed the Speaker of Parliament on the ongoing developments within the Association, current projects, and future plans. The discussion also covered the Association’s renewed standing committees. Particular attention was paid to the Legislative Initiatives Committee, which will work on legislative proposals and initiatives in various areas.

Within the framework of the meeting, Irakli Kandashvili introduced to Shalva Papuashvili the issues and needs aimed at further enhancing the effective practice of the legal profession. Active discussions and exchange of views on these matters are currently ongoing among members of the Georgian Bar Association. The issues include proposed amendments to the Tax Code and the Law on Advocates, which the Association plans to initiate before Parliament in the near future.
